18 bag first class as TASUED graduates 5,153

A total of 5,153 will be awarded various degrees and diplomas as the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, holds its combined 13th, 14th and 15th ceremonies on Monday and Tuesday.

Among these, 18 will be awarded First Class honors, 159 will graduate with master’s degrees, 60 with Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), and 30 with PGD.

The vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Oluwole Banjo, disclosed this on Wednesday during a press conference to highlight activities for the convocation.

He also announced that a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and former president of TASUED Trust Foundation, Dr Tunde Lemo, will be conferred with the degree of Doctor of Economics (honoris causa).

While commenting on the recent adjustment in the school fees, Professor Banjo disclosed that TASUED had put in place a two-installment payment plan to mitigate the effects of the increase on students and parents, taking into consideration the economic hardship precipitated by the recent removal of petrol subsidy.

He disclosed that in the area of infrastructure, various projects are at various stages of implementation to enhance the development of the university, and that during the convocation, some of the completed projects would be commissioned.

“During these ceremonies, we’ll witness the commissioning of the Crystal Building, an ICT-based research and teaching facility, along with the Alumni Building, a 2000-seater capacity lecture theatre generously donated to the university,” he said.

Banjo also noted that TASUED has excelled in research, training, and manpower development, including, notably, the recent collaboration between the university’s Institute of Vocational Training and Research in Agriculture with the Federal Government to establish an agro-processing factory, to contribute to the nation’s strive for food security, among others.

“Moreover, partnerships with organizations like the Teachers Registration Council have ensured our graduates become certified members of the council upon graduation.

“The establishment of the College of Agricultural Sciences is another milestone, adding to the university’s diverse academic offerings,” he added.
