No fewer than 7,717 graduating students of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, will bow out as the college holds its 35th convocation ceremony.
Of the figures, 254 got distinction, 1,893 are graduating with upper credit division while 3,940 are graduating with lower credit and 1,630 are in pass grade.
Rector of the College, Ibrahim Adedotun Abdul, who spoke during the pre-convocation media briefing heralding the activities lined up to mark the 35th convocation and the 76th anniversary of the institution, said Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Olufemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman and Lady Christine Doja Otedola are expected to grace the occasion.
Gbajabiamila will deliver the convocation lecture on November 21, 2023.
The Rector said the convocation programme would commence November 17-23, 2023.
Besides, Abdul said that other events for the convocation include conferment of Fellowship of the College on Doja Otedola, Hassam Sunmonu and Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum.
He added that the awards are conferred on esteemed and exemplary Nigerians who have contributed immensely to national development, education and other sectors, including those who distinguished themselves in their areas of endeavours.
He said the justification for the conferment of the prestigious fellowship awards on the revered Nigerians centres on their respective accomplishments within and outside Nigeria.
