282 Bag First Class as LASU holds 26th Convocation, Marks 40th Anniversary 

The Lagos State University, Ojo, founded in 1983, is set to mark its 40th anniversary, while it also holds its 26th convocation ceremony.

A statement on Wednesday by the varsity quoted the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, to have disclosed this during the convocation press conference.

The VC also disclosed that among the graduating students are 282, who finished with first class honours for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions.

The VC said it is the first time in the 40-year history of LASU that a total of 282 students would graduate with first class honours.

According to Olatunji-Bello, a Law student, Imoitesemeh Yusuf, will be awarded N500,000 for not only bagging first class honours but also making a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0, thus, emerging the best graduating student.

The VC added: “The 2020/2021 academic session has Divine Lopez of the Department of Physiology, Lagos State University College of Medicine with a CGPA of 4.91 (first class honours).

“I am also glad to announce that Yusuf Aminat Imoitesemeh, with a CGPA of 5.0, is LASU’s best graduating student in history.”


She also disclosed that some eminent Nigerians will be conferred with honourary doctorate.

“They are a former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Oba Alayeluwa Ademola Elegushi, General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Olukoya, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Chief of Staff to President of Nigeria, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, Oba Suleiman Ashade and Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire,” the VC said.
