Elections: FG Issues Directive on Closure of All Polytechnics 

MINISTERIAL DIRECTIVE ON THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ALL POLYTECHNICS DURING THE UPCOMING 2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS

As you are aware, the 2023 General Elections have been scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, and Saturday, March 11th, 2023 for the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.

In light of concerns regarding the security of staff, students, and properties of our institutions, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, after extensive consultations with relevant security agencies, has directed that all polytechnics be temporarily closed and academic activities be suspended from Wednesday, February 22nd to Tuesday, March 14th, 2023.

It is requested that you communicate this directive to all institutions under your regulatory jurisdiction. This information is necessary to ensure that appropriate adjustments are made to their academic calendar to account for the three-week interruption.
