Maryam Abacha American University of Niger Matriculates 1,200 Students For 2022/2023 Academic Session 



Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, MAAUN, Kano, has matriculated no fewer than 1,200 newly admitted students for the 2022/2023 Academic Session.
The second matriculation ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday April 6, 2023, was held at the Prof. Adamu Abubakar Rasheed Twin Lecture Theatre, where invited guests, including parents attended the event.
The two-day program started with students of School of Computing on the first day, while the Schools of Social and Management Sciences, Health Sciences and Nursing Sciences were matriculated on the second day.
In his address on the occasion, the President of MAAUN, Prof. Mohammad Israr said the event marked the official enrollment of the matriculating students into the university academic program as approved by the National Universities Commission, NUC.
He congratulated the students for securing admission into the university and urged them to embrace self-discipline and face their studies seriously.
“Remember that you are now ambassadors of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano and you must express that ambassadorial disposition in all interactions on campus,” Mr Israr said.
The president said Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria offers only courses that are of commercial value to students stressing that the teaching approach in the university is market-oriented and entrepreneurially based.
He warned the students to strictly abide by the university’s rules and regulations and be of good character, as well as dress decently.
In his address, the founder and chairman Governing Council of the University, Prof. Adamu Gwarzo, said MAAUN Business School would soon be established in Paris to support students while undertaking their postgraduate research with a view to internationalize their certificate.
He said the new students should count themselves lucky for getting admission into the University saying their certificate is the most recognized in West Africa and it’s the only certificate that is not evaluated as a precondition to securing jobs in the United States of America.
Mr Gwarzo said the matriculating students should also be proud for being a part of MAAUN family because they will benefit from its profound intellectual and material investment.
He told the matriculating students that no fewer than 500 graduates of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, Maradi are currently working in various places in the United States of America, USA.
He said MAAUN would continue to provide quality education in order to produce quality graduates who would contribute their quota towards the development of African continent and the world at large.
Earlier speaking, a member governing council of MAAUN, Prof. Gaji-Fatima Dantata, who delivered a goodwill message to the matriculating students, urged them to always be of good character in order to preserve the university’s brand name and achieve their desired career goals.
In his goodwill message, the Vice President, MAAUN Maradi, Dr. Shu’aibu Tanko congratulated the matriculating students for being selected out of thousands candidates that sought for admission into the prestigious University.
He charged the new students to take their studies with seriousness to enable them work in many key positions across the world after graduation.
The Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar who, led the proceedings during the matriculation, administered the matriculation Oath to the students.
Other Management staff present during the occasion include the Vice President Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba; Vice President Finance, (Dr.) Abdulrasaq Kayode; Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Nura Yaro; Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation, Prof. Abubakar Harouna.
Others were director, Linkages and Collaboration, Dr. Bala Mohammed Tukur; Head, International Office, Bashir Garba; Deans of Schools, Chairs of Departments, Security Personnels and invited guests, among others.
