Mr AbdulRazaq said this during KWASU’s 12th convocation ceremony on Saturday in Malete.The governor appreciated the school for reaching a milestone of pride for the university community and the entire state.He charged everyone to continue to work together to elevate KWASU and ensure it remained a trailblazer in education, research and community service.KWASU chancellor Johnson Bamidele says the university is known for excellence, especially in contributing to the state’s advancement and that of the world.Mr Bamidele, an engineer, said the university had, through its collaborations, continued to improve its teaching, learning and research activities as a reference among universities, locally and internationally.He said the university had remained steadfast in paying unwavering attention to infrastructural development, information technology and academic excellence.The pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council, Abdulganiy Ambali, said the management received the council’s maximum support in securing sponsorship for developmental projects through public-private partnership and direct labour.Mr Ambali said this was to broaden the university’s infrastructure base just as the council would seek more ways to add to the university’s infrastructure through endowments and donations.He charged the graduates to carve a niche for themselves to succeed in the largely competitive world.“In doing this, you are expected to exhibit the rigorous training and discipline you have acquired during your stay in this great citadel of learning,” he said.KWASU vice-chancellor Jimoh Shaykh-Lukman, said the institution graduated 6,891 students (6,374 with first degrees: 468 and 49 earning master’s degrees and PhDs respectively).71 bagged First Class, 1,828 had second class upper division, 3,501 had second class lower division, while 974 had third class. We are unwavering in our determination to be the fulcrum of a knowledge-driven society, building competencies through creativity and cutting-edge technology.“Since 2022, KWASU has recorded many new achievements in her academic growth, from nine faculties presented at the last convocation to 11,” he said.The vice-chancellor urged the graduates to engage the education received in KWASU as the ticket to change the world, convert challenges to stepping stones and see opportunities where others see limitations.Mujab Daoud, from the Department of Computer Science, was declared the best-graduating student of the 2023/2024 set.Mr Daoud says he is filled with hope, faith and a deep sense of responsibility to give back to the community that made him and make a difference in the world.
