OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, ILE- IFE, OSUN STATE, NIGERIA

Reference:RO.2/Vol. VII/146

SPECIAL RELEASE ON COVID – 19 LOCKDOWN

The Federal and the Osun State Governments have decided to relax the Stay-at-home order, essentially to ease the economic burden and allow some level of freedom. The Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has also warned that “all is not yet well” and “appealed to all of us to obey the rules in our collective interest”.

We greatly appreciate the contributions of all those who have supported the University in providing essential services during the period of total lockdown. Staff and Students of OAU are advised to continue their stay-at-home and follow all the directives of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Management will continue to invite all those whose services may be required from time-to-time. Staff and students will be adequately informed when a definite resumption date is decided.

The COVID-19 pandemic is on the increase, in almost all States of the Federation, with over 220 new cases reported daily. There are as at today 2,388 reported cases in the country with 85 deaths. It is incumbent on all stakeholders, staff and students of OAU to continue to practice and promote basic hygiene including the washing of hands and use of hand sanitizers. It is also mandatory to use face-masks, practice universal social distancing, and avoid large social gatherings.

The University will continue to closely monitor the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and will do everything possible to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the OAU community, on and off campus. It will also continue to intensify efforts in the areas of research, academic content and mass enlightenment.

PLEASE STAY SAFE.
