Requirements For Admissions |
(i) For the Post Higher National Diploma (Post-HND) in Urban and Regional Planning, Mechanical Engineering Technology (Production), Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Power/Electrical (Machine Option), Building Technology and Polymer Technology, Candidates must possess a minimum of lower Credit in the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme, obtained from the Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi or similar institutions whose courses have earned NBTE Accreditation, or any other equivalent qualification and satisfactory completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme.(ii) Candidates for any of the Higher National Diploma (HND) courses must possess the National Diploma (ND) of the Polytechnic with a minimum of Lower Credit or an equivalent qualification from other similar institutions whose course have earned NBTE accreditation. In addition, candidates must have satisfied the Auchi Polytechnic Matriculation requirements for the National Diploma Programme and must have at least one year Post National Diploma (ND) Industrial Experience. Evidence of relevant one year Post-ND Industrial Experience and academic transcripts from the candidate’s Institution must be submitted along with the allocation for Higher National Diploma admission. Where the applicant’s qualification falls short of Lower Credit, he/she should have at least (2) years Industrial Experience. In Office Technology and Management Department, preference will be given to candidates with good grades in skill subjects of Shorthand, Typewriting and Computer Science Technology. HND PROGRAMMES FOR SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY OPTIONSHIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) (2 YEARS) PROGRAMMESIn addition to the general conditions for admission into the HND programmes in Auchi Polytechnic, candidates must possess the following:(i) PHYSICS/ELECTRONICS OPTIONCredit passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, physics, Chemistry and one of Biology and Agricultural Science(ii) CHEMISTRY/BIOCHEMISTRY OPTIONCredit passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one of Physics and Geography (but with at least a pass in Physics).(III)BIOLOGY/MICROBIOLOGY OPTIONCredit passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one of Physics, agricultural science and Geography (but with at least a pass in Physics). PRELIMINARY PROGRAMMESFor Admission into any of the preliminary programme (one year preparatory Programme), candidates must have WASC/NECO/NABTEB/GCE O/L with at least two (2) Credit Passes obtained at one sitting except in pre-General Arts and Pre-Fashion Design and Clothing Technology where candidates are required to have a minimum of two (2) credits passes at two sittings or five (5) passes at a sitting. Candidates are also required to possess at least a pass in English Language.In addidition to the above requirements, candidates should satisfy the following conditions(a) SCHOOL OF ART AND DESIGN(I) PRE-GENERAL ARTCandidates must possess two (2) Credit Passes and three Passes at not more than two sittings at any of the following SSCE, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or its equivalent. Of the two (2) Credit Passes and three (3) Passes, one Credit or pass should be in ANY Art or Science subject. At least a Pass in English Language will be an added advantage.A candidate with five (5) Passes at a sitting in the SSCE, NECO, GCE O/L OR NABTEB including English Language and any Art or Science subject can apply.In either of the cases above, candidates for the pre-ND General Art must appear in the School of Art and Design, for a screening exercise.(II) PRE-FASHION DESIGN AND CLOTHING TECHNOLOGYCandidates must possess at least five (5) Passes including English Language at the SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB. At least two (2) of such passes should be in any of the following subjects, Literature in English, Economics, Clothing and Textiles, Government, Christian Religious Knowledge, Islamic Religious Knowledge, Technical Drawing, Art, Chemistry, Commerce, Health, Science History and Geography.(III) PRE-CERAMICS AND GLASS TECHNOLOGYCandidates must possess Three (3) Credit Passes and a pass in English Language at not more than two (2) Sittings. One of the Credit Passes Should be from any of the Science subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science or Mathematics. ORA candidate with five (5) passes including English Language at a sitting in SSCE, NECO, GCE O/L, NABTEB and its equivalent in any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Fine Art, Economics, Islamic Religious Knowledge, Christian Religious Knowledge, Biology, Agric-Science, Government and Literature in English are eligible to apply. SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY(I) PRE-SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGYCandidates must have three (3) Credit Passes in Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O/L, (NECO), or (NABTEB) with Passes in English Language and Mathematics. The three (3) Credits and a Pass must be in Biology, Chemistry and Physics(II) PRE-STATISTICSThe three (3) Credit Passes must include Mathematics and any two of the following: English Language, Biology, Economics and Physics/Geography. Any candidate with three (3) relevant Credit Passes at a sitting and a Pass in English Language will be considered for admission.(III) PRE-COMPUTER SCIENCEThe two (2) Credit Passes must include Mathematics with at least a Pass in Physics.(III) PRE-POLYMER TECHNOLOGYThe three (3) Credit Passes in not more than two (2) sittings must include Mathematics and Chemistry.(IV) PRE-CATERING & HOTEL MANAGEMENTFour (4) Credits level Passes in WASC, NECO, SSCE, NABTEB in not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects must include Biology/Agricultural Science and any two (2) of the following subjects : Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Commerce.(V) PRE-FOOD TECHNOLOGYFour (4) Credit level Passes in SSCE, NECO, NABTEB in not more than two (2) sittings. The Subjects must include Biology and any two (2) of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Food & Nutrition, Economics, Geography, Health Science and one (1) other subject. At least, a Pass in English Language and Mathematics is compulsory. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY(I) PRE-CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGYCandidates must possess three (3) Credit Passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with at least a Pass in English Language at one sitting and also satisfy the Polytechnic screening requirements.(II) PRE-ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGYCandidates must posses three (3) Credit Passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with at least a Pass in English Language at one sitting and also satisfy the Polytechnic screening requirements.(III) PRE-MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGYCandidates must have Senior School Certificate Examination or NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent with a Pass in English Language and three (3) Credit Passes which must include Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at a sitting. ORAny other basic training and remedial courses which the institution may consider acceptable.(IV) PRE-AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGYCandidates must possess three (3) Credit Passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with at least a Pass in English Language at one sitting, and also satisfy the Polytechnic screening requirements.(v) PRE-MINERAL RESOURCES ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGYCandidates must possess three (3) Credit Passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with at least a Pass in English Language at one sitting.SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES(I) PRE-BUILDING TECHNOLOGYCandidates must possess minimum of three (3) Credit Passes, Two (2) of the Credit passes must include Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and any other subject from Further Mathematics, Fine Art or Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Religious Knowledge. Candidates with C & G in Concreting, Woodwork, Technical Drawing, Block Laying and Building Practices may apply.(II) PRE-ESTATE MANAGEMENTCandidates must possess minimum of three (3) Credit Passes. Two (2) of the Credit Passes must be from Mathematics, Economics/Geography, English Language, Biology/Agricultural Science.(III) PRE-SURVEYING & GEOINFORMATICSCandidates must possess minimum of three (3) Credit Passes. The two (2) Credit passes must include Mathematics and Physics and at least a Pass in English Language at not more than two sittings.(IV) PRE-URBAN & REGIONAL PLANNINGCandidates must possess minimum of three (3) Credit Passes. The two (2) Credit Passes must include Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Agricultural/Economics, Technical Drawing/Fine Art. At least a Pass in Mathematics is required.(V) PRE-QUANTITY SURVEYINGCandidates must possess minimum of three (3) Credit Passes. Two (2) Credit Passes must include Mathematics and Physics and at least a Pass in English Language.PRE-ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGYThree (3) of the Credit Passes must include Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and any other one subject from the following – Fine Art, Technical Drawing, Economics, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Religious Knowledge, Government and English Language. At least a Pass in English Language is acceptable. |
