ASUU Strike: UNIMAID suspends first semester exams till further notice

Following the nation-wide strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the University of Maiduguri (UNUIMAID) in Borno State has finally suspended its first semester examination till further notice.

This was announced in a statement by institution’s Director, Senate and Academic Matters, Filibus Yamta Mshelia, at the weekend.

According to the statement, the decision to suspend the first semester exams came up when all the academic staff of the school joined the ongoing two-week warning strike by the national leadership of ASUU .

It said: “The union yesterday said that it is joining the strike, in a statement issued to the public.”

‘”UNIMAID management has directed that the on-going first semester 2019/2020 academic session examination be suspended.”

It added that all examinations were suspended until further notice, just as the management enjoined students not to travel out of Maiduguri owing to the prevailing conditions.
