BABCOCK UNIVERSITY INDUCTS 75 NEW NURSES INTO NURSING PROFESSION

75 new nurses were inducted into the Nursing Profession at Babcock University on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

The theme of the ceremony was “Brain Drain and Brain Gain in Health Care Systems”.

The guest speaker, Professor Omolola Oladunni, a professor of community-public health nursing, spoke about the problem of brain drain and its impact on the healthcare industry.

She said that brain drain equals the emigration of skilled professionals, such as nurses, from the country to find better opportunities abroad. This leaves the country with a shortage of nurses and other healthcare workers, which can have a negative impact on the quality of healthcare.

Professor Oladunni suggested a number of solutions to the problem of brain drain, including improving working conditions for nurses, providing more opportunities for professional development, and creating a more supportive environment for nurses. She also urged the newly graduated nurses to be committed to their profession and to never forget the importance of giving back to their communities.

In his address to the graduating nurses, the President Vice-Chancellor Professor Ademola Tayo congratulated the Nurses on their achievements and urged them to always remember their roots and to be proud of their profession.

He also said that the university was proud of them and that they had made the university proud.

The Dean of Nursing, Dr. Sowunmi Christiana, also spoke at the ceremony and urged the inducted nurses to be of good conduct and to be committed to professional development. She said that the nurses had a bright future ahead of them and that they could make a real difference in the world.

The 19th Nursing Induction Ceremony at Babcock University was a success and it was a proud day for all of the newly inducted nurses.

They have worked hard to achieve their goal of becoming nurses and they are now ready to start their careers.
