COVID19: Chrisland varsity pledges technical assistance to Ogun

The Chrisland University, Abeokuta has promised to offer technical assistance to the Government of Ogun in its ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The university said it would spare no effort in complementing the state’s effort to stop further spread of coronavirus.

The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Babalola, said this in Abeokuta after she made a donation of hand sanitisers and alcohol-based disinfectant sprays produced by the institution to the state government.

The university donated 12 cartons of hand sanitisers and five cartons of alcohol-based disinfectant sprays.

According to Babalola, the sanitisers and the alcohol-based disinfectants were of World Health Organisation standard.

He said the university had the capacity to produce for the Ogun State Government if requested to do so.

Babalola, a professor of Pharmacokinetics who in February won the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Award for Scientific Excellence at the 33rd AU Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, added that she would offer her expertise to the state in the fight against the viral disease.

The state’s Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who received the items on behalf of the government, thanked the varsity for the gesture.

Salako-Oyedele, who is the Chairman of the COVID-19 Task Force in the state, promised that the government would ensure transparency in the use of the items and other donations towards the containment of the pandemic in the state

She advised other tertiary institutions to emulate the good example of Chrisland University in combating the virus.
