Cross River State government says its public schools will resume on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
It also said it will provide free Personal Protective Equipment, PPEs, to the pupils and students in public schools.
Governor Ben Ayade, who was inspecting the production of the PPEs at the Calabar Garment Factory, however, said the state could not afford the young students to continue staying at home.
Ayade said the PPEs for the public schools have met and have been certified by the regulatory bodies.
He called on the Federal Government and other states to patronize the state garment factory for their PPEs, to enable them to move on with the new lifestyle, with protective measures.
Cross River Commissioner for Education, Godwin Amanke, said the resumption will start with one school each per senatorial district, as a test run, before others follow.
Cross River is the only state in Nigeria without a confirmed case of COVID-19 by the National Centre For Disease Control, NCDC.
The state, however, said measures are in place to contain the spread of the virus in Cross River.
