PRESS RELEASE ON THE REOPENING OF SCHOOLS IN EKITI STATE
Following the recent announcement of the Hon Minister of Education on the reopening of schools to enable the exit classes take their mandatory examinations, the Governor of Ekiti State has approved an adjusted school calendar as follows.
S/N ACTIVITY CLASSES INVOLVED DATE(S) NO: OF WEEKS REMARK
1 Admission of Teachers for School opening preparation TEACHERS Tuesday 4th August 2020 β’ All Teachers of schools with exit classes are to resume for preparation to receive students.
β’ Training of COVID-19 Focal Persons
2 Reopening of schools (Schls with SS3 exit classes only) SS3 Monday 10th August, 2020 4 To sit for West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASCCE)
(17th August, 2020 onwards)
- Admission of JSS3 Classes JSS3
To be announced later a. Schls enrolled for Basic Education Certificate Examinations(BECE) to sit for exams (24th August to 7th September, 2020)
b. State JSSCE candidates exams to be announced later
- Reopening of Technical Colleges Final Class Technical Colleges (National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) Monday 21st August, 2020 to Thursday 15th October, 2020 Preparations from 21st Aug,2020 to 21st Sept, 2020 (4) weeks.
Exams from 21st September, 2020 to 15th October,2020 (another 4 weeks) - Conduct of NECOSSCE SS 3 Monday 5th October, 2020 to Wednesday 18th November, 2020 5 SS3 students registered for NECO (day students) to return to school, while those in boarding schools to stay back for the exams, while observing Covid-19 protocols
- Pry Schl Leaving Certificate /Placement Exams Pry 6 To be announced later Designated centres to be announced later
- National Board for Arabic & Islamic Studies(NBAIS) Exams Registered
Candidates Wednesday
23rd September 2020 to Saturday 17th October 2020 4 Arabic/Islamic candidates registered for the exams to sit for the it - Returning students/pupils should come to the examination/school centres with nose masks in addition to those provided at the point of entry. Principals/Headteachers are also to arrange their halls/hostel dormitories in conformity with COVID-19 protocols for physical/social distancing. They are also to adhere strictly to all the guidelines already distributed to both Private and public schools.
- The calendar for the 2020/2021 academic session will be released later.
