EKSU excited as Nursing, 42 other programmes get full accreditation
- Gets nod to increase annual intake of Nursing students to 100
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has given full accreditation status to the Nursing Sciences programme at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.
A statement by the Head, EKSU Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun, on Thursday stated that this came as the National Universities Commission (NUC) gave full accreditation for five years to 42 academic programmes of the university.
NMNC Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Faruk Abubakar, disclosed the full accreditation for the Nursing Programme for five years after which the institution shall be revisited for reassessment in a letter to EKSU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, dated 20th May, 2024.
Abubakar stated, “The Nursing Sciences programme is adequate in content and coverage and it is in line with that of the NMCN”.
The Council also approved the upward review of the university’s annual intake of Nursing students from 50 to 100.
Also, 42 other academic programmes, cutting across the various faculties of the university, presented to the NUC, received full accreditation status for five years.
Olfinmuagun stated, “The University community received the positive news with admiration, while the VC, Prof. Olanipekun has received accolades for the development”.
