Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), has directed the temporary suspension of academic activities from Wednesday February 22 to Tuesday March 14, 2023 as ordered by the Federal Government.
Recall that the Federal Government through the Minister of Education, Mal. Adamu Adamu, had last week ordered that all universities and Inter University Centres be shut down and academic activities be suspended between 22 February and 14 March, 2023 due to concerns expressed on the security of staff, students and properties of respective institutions ahead of the upcoming general elections.
This was contained in an official statement released by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Following the Federal Government’s directive, the management of FUTO has released it’s own official statement, abiding by the directive.
The statement reads:
“This is to inform the University Community that following the managerial directive on the closure of all Universities and Inter University Centres in view of the forthcoming 2023 general elections, the University management has accordingly approved the temporary suspension of all academic activities in the University from Wednesday, February 22 to Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Academic activities will resume for all staff and students on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
“The University Management counts on the usual cooperation of staff and students in this regard.”
