FUOYE GETS ACTING VICE CHANCELLOR 

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti’s Governing Council has appointed Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academics, as the acting Vice-Chancellor for six months, effective April 14, 2025.

This decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Council, where they also approved Prof. Abayomi Fasina’s request to proceed on six months’ accumulated annual and research leave, totaling 126 working days.

This development comes after allegations of sexual harassment were made against Prof. Fasina by a senior university official, Engr. Folasade Adebayo. Although Fasina’s tenure was set to end in August 2025, he opted to take his accumulated leave instead of facing direct suspension. Prof. Shittu, a Professor of Soil Science, will oversee the university’s activities during this period.
