FUTMINNA HOSTS NUC RESOURCE VERIFICATION TEAMS 

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) recently hosted a Resource Verification team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for an assessment of six proposed academic programs. The programs under review include Furniture Design, Agribusiness, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Food Engineering. The exercise took place on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus, FUT , Minna.

Speaking on behalf of the verification teams, Prof. Taiwo Omobuwajo emphasized that the exercise was a peer review mechanism aimed at ensuring the university meets the minimum requirements to commence these programs. He commended the NUC for assembling a team of seasoned experts for the task and assured the university that the process was not punitive but rather advisory in nature.Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, stated that FUT, Minna had adequately prepared for the verification exercise, with all necessary documentation and facilities in place. He expressed appreciation to the NUC for initiating such a vital exercise, which ensures programs align with national standards. Prof. Mohammed also highlighted the institution’s commitment to producing graduates equipped to solve real-world problems and positively impact the community and beyond.

The team leads for the respective programs were Prof. Alkali Ibrahim Abubakar (Furniture Design); Prof. Rukayyatu B. Tukur (Interior Architecture; Prof. Taiwo Omobuwajo (Food Engineering) ; Prof. Unwajesus A. Onyekuru (Agribusiness) ; Prof. Sati Yohana (Landscape Architecture) and Prof. James Mbagihantim (Nutrition and Dietetics).

This verification exercise emphasizes FUTMINNA’s dedication to academic excellence and its proactive efforts to expand its program offerings in alignment with global standards.
