FUTMINNA RECEIVES PRELIMINARY ACCREDITATION REPORTS FROM NUC TEAMS 

The Accreditation Teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) have submitted their preliminary reports to the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT, Minna), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, during exit meetings on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus.

The evaluated programs include Project Management Technology, Logistics and Transport Technology, Educational Technology, Chemical Engineering, Water Resources, Aquaculture and Fishery Technology (WAFT), Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics, Horticulture, Animal Production, Crop Production, and Soil Science and Land Management.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, commended the accreditation teams for their thorough and professional assessment. He noted that their observations and recommendations would contribute significantly to enhancing the university’s academic programs. Prof. Kuta further assured the teams of the institution’s commitment to implementing their recommendations, emphasizing the need to expand and improve its programs and facilities to accommodate increasing student enrollment.

In their remarks, the team leaders expressed satisfaction with the exercise’s overall outcomes and commended the university’s staff caliber. While affirming the adequacy of the admission requirements, course content, and curriculum, they highlighted areas for improvement, including:

Increasing the number of junior academic staff (Lecturer I and below) to be mentored by senior staff.

Regular training and workshops for staff development.

Enhanced funding for various programs.

Assigning a consistent academic adviser to students throughout their studies for better progress monitoring.

The team leaders for the accredited programs were:

Prof. Stanley Omoikhoye (Agriculture)

Prof. Adebambo Somuyiwa (Project Management Technology/Logistics and Transport Technology)

Prof. Boma Isabella Dambo (Educational Technology)

Prof. Omalele A. A. Eletta (Chemical Engineering)

Prof. Olufeabga Samuel (WAFT).

The teams expressed confidence in the University’s potential and urged it to maintain its commitment to excellence.
