Encouraged by the commitment to produce world- class graduates as well as being a centre of excellence in academics and human development through e-learning, the Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL) has held a meeting with the Management of Astral Learning, an adtech company and solutions providers based in the United States of America for the establishment of an e-campus.

The meeting which was held via Zoom indicated that the programme was scheduled for take-off in 2020/2021 academic session and would start with Diplomas, Postgraduate diplomas and degrees on an e-platform soon to be deployed.

The e-campus programme is a collaboration aimed to increase IBBUL’s local and international students’ enrollments, expand the revenue base of the University through online higher education, leading to the production of graduates certified via one-hundred percent online content delivery.

With the aim to strengthen an earlier signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) by both parties, the meeting considered and agreed on the use of flexibility during admissions in terms of entry requirements consistent with international best practices, having amended parts of the proposed prospectus.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu who led the IBBUL team, had earlier called for robust interactions that would lead to successful academic activities when the e-learning programme commenced.

On the whole, both parties agreed to share marketing guidelines through the use of social media and other strategic opportunities where applicable.

Dr. Jeff Borders who led the Astria Learning team being its Chief Executive Officer appreciated the Management of IBBUL and promised to review the amendments suggested to the prospectus within two weeks and report back to IBBUL Management.

In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu thanked participants from the two organisations, hoping that all hands would be put on deck to ensure the speedy completion of all the observations raised, so that academic activities would commence in earnest.

Also speaking, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko who moderated the discussions at the meeting expressed satisfaction with the deliberations and urged the Astria Learning team to maintain transparency, to ensure the smooth take-off of the programme.

In attendance at the online meeting that lasted over two hours were all Principal Officers and other senior staff of the University, as well as those from Astria Learning.

The MoA signed between IBBUL and Astria Learning is for initial period of Seven years subject to automatic renewal as a measure to safeguard continued learning through the e-platform by students.
