The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, SAN, has advocated that students should be treated like gentlemen and ladies as this will influence how they would behave in society.
He stated this when he visited one of the on-campus Student Hostels on Monday, May 11, 2020 as part of the his familiarisation tour of the University.
“I am looking for a situation where our students will be proud of their hostels. I encourage hostels that can be easily maintained and I also encourage public-private-partnerships,” he said.
Professor Akanbi also visited KWASU Bakery in the Centre for Entrepreneurship where he charged the bakers to compete with big names in the industry while announcing that KWASU Investment and Enterprise Unit would soon be established.
At the College of Engineering, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the University would invest in online classes for a lot of courses due to the growing number of students.
“A lot of large classes will go online. Any class of over 200 to 300 students should be online. Having several students in a classroom where half of them are outside will not help the students and will also stress the facilities. Lecturers should put materials online and invite them to the classroom in batches of small numbers for tutorials,” he said.
