KWASU TO PLAY LEADING ROLE IN AGRO-ALLIED BUSINESSES IN THE STATE 

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN, has pledged that his administration would invest tremendously in agriculture, with a plan to make KWASU a leading player in agro-allied business in Kwara state and beyond.
Speaking at the Teaching and Research Farm Office of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University, the Vice Chancellor who was on part of his ongoing facility tour of the campus said he was confident that KWASU has all it takes to play a leading role in terms of massive production of various farm produce.
He identified promoting agro-allied businesses as integral to his cardinal objectives to achieve in the Institution, pledging to leave no stone unturned to ensure that every household in Kwara state has a taste of KWASU products.
He disclosed that both Baruten and Osi campuses of the University would soon be put to use for aggressive farming businesses and commencement of academic programmes thereafter.
While commending the staff of the Farm Office for being proactive, the Vice-Chancellor pledged to provide them with necessary incentives to further encourage their duties.
Earlier while taking the Vice-Chancellor round the farm, the Farm Manager, Mr Aremu Jimoh Olalekan, thanked Professor Akanbi for having interest in the activities of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Institution and pledged the readiness of his team to work with the Vice-Chancellor in his efforts to revolutionise activities of the University.
Similarly, in an inspection visit to the Abodu Water Dam in Malete, Professor Akanbi said KWASU was ready to support government’s efforts to ensure that the dam serves the University Community and the entire Malete town.
On the entourage of the Vice-Chancellor was the University’s Acting Registrar, Alhaji Mohammed Shuaib; the Director of Works, Engineer Wahab Ayinla; the Acting Bursar, Mallam Muhammed Abubakar; the Library Coordinator, Dr (Mrs) Florence Ajani; the Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Abiodun Amuda Kannike among others.
