LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU) RELEASES GUIDELINES ON RESUMPTION OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES POST COVID-19 

This is to notify staff, students and the general public that the University will re-open for normal academic activities from Monday 14th September, 2020.

The decision of the University Senate to commence normal academic activities is in compliance with the directive of Mr Babajide Olusola SANWO-OLU, Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to our University that Tertiary Institutions in the state can re-open from Monday 14th September, 2020.

The University Senate and Management knowing full well that our country and indeed the entire globe is yet to overcome or produce a vaccine for Corona Virus has taken precautionary measures in line with the protocols of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to ensure safety of our returning staff, students and the entire University Community.

Owing to the above, the University has decided that the gradual re-opening of the University will be guided by the following rules and regulations:

Ai, RESUMPTION DATE FOR THE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF STUDENTS
Only final year students at the undergraduate level i.e. 400, 500 and 600 level (depending on duration of programme) students respectively, are permitted to resume academic activities on Monday 14th September, 2020 and their lecture hours will be from 9.00am to 3.00pm daily (Monday to Friday).

ii. Postgraduate students (Masters and PhD) are to also resume on Monday 14th September, 2020 but their lectures will strictly hold on weekends only.

iii. 200 to 500 level (all levels other than 100 level and final year) students will commence academic activities on Monday 9th November, 2020 while lectures for newly admitted students (100 levels) will commence on Monday 11th January, 2021.

iv. Sandwich Degree Programme, Part-Time in Epe Campus and Diploma students will commence lectures on Friday 13th November, 2020 and their lectures would hold only on weekends.

Bi, CONDITIONS FOR ACCESSING THE UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES
Staff, students and any other individual without face mask will not be allowed access into any of the University campuses (i.e. Ojo, Epe and Ikeja).

ii. Screening and checking of entrants at all entrances of the University using infrared thermometers is compulsory.

iii. Staff and students must wear their Identity cards in order to be allowed access into the University.

iv. Any staff or student who has misplaced his/her Identity card should go to the University
Website; www.lasu.edu.ng and generate a temporary Identity card to enable him/her gain access into the campus and thereafter proceed to the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology to process a permanent Identity card.

v. Staff and students must come into the University campuses (Ojo, Epe and Ikeja) with their individual hand sanitizers.

vi. All academic members of staff are to resume on Monday 14th September, 2020.

vii. Only non-academic staff members on CONUNASS 12 and above and others on essential duties would be allowed entrance into the University Campuses.

vii. Members of Management, Directors and Deans of Faculties are the only categories of staff allowed to receive visitors within official hours during this period. Other categories of staff are to receive visitors STRICTLY on official matters.

C. REGULATIONS DURING LECTURES
i. For emphasis, lecturers must ensure that all students wear their facemask during classes.

ii. Lecturers must ensure that their classes are not crowded and students observe physical distancing by maintaining the prescribed two meters between two students.

iii. Lecturers must ensure that there is adequate ventilation in their lecture rooms.

D. REGULATIONS FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS
i. STAFF CLUB: Operation of the staff club shall be between 12.00hrs and 18.00hrs daily and in order not to violate NCDC protocols, social gathering of over fifty (50) people at the staff club is prohibited.

ii. BUSINESS CENTRES: Business/Computer Centres are allowed to operate minimally to provide essential services to staff and students.

iii. BANK CUSTOMERS: The Badagry gate of the University will be designated for bank customers who will be controlled and screened before being allowed access into the University.

Staff, students and the entire University Community are enjoined to abide by the above listed regulations put together in order that we have a healthy community devoid of the novel COVID-19 virus.

Security personnel will also be of continuous surveillance in order to identify violators of laid down rules and regulations.
