February 20,2023: The day OAU stood still as Ife Lawyers honours Egbewole, Unilorin VC
Ife Lawyers in collaboration with the Law Students Society, OAU & Equity Chambers of Faculty of Law has again honoured one of their own at a public lecture tagged “ELECTORAL REFORMS: IS BVAS A GAME CHANGER OR MIRAGE” at the
Moot Court , Faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun.
The occasion, chaired by the Hon. Justice Jimi Bada, JCA and Royal Father of the Day, Ooni Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II had the venue filled to the brim with law students, academia of repute, eminent and accomplished legal icons. The Chief Host, the Vice-Chancellor, OAU, Prof. Bamire full of encomium of the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof Wahab Olasupo EGBEWOLE, SAN remarked that Egbewole is being sent as leading light from OAU to show the world classical ways of administering a University as taught.
The guest lecture, Sola Ojutalayo, SAN who was called to bar in 1982 described Egbewole as an accomplished scholar and legal luminary who combined diligence, humility and doggedness to attain the height being celebrated by all today. Mr. Ojutalayo addressing the subject of discussion traced stages of reformations in the nation’s electoral processes and opined that every Nigerian should embrace BVAS as a true game changer. Other discussants in persons of Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN and Prof Abiola Sanni, SAN adopted the position of Ojutalayo and added that anyone who do yno accept BVAS is a criminally minded and that, thou adopting BVAS is good, it is not yet an Uhuru to solving political abnormalities in our country.
The Chairman of the occasion, Justice Bada, JCA urged Nigerians to believe in the system and hope for a great Nigeria.
Adding glamour to the event, the Law Students Society while presenting the award to the honouree described Egbewole as father to all and worthy example to follow in all ramifications. This was followed by another award presentation by Ife Lawyers in special recognition of Mr. Efficiency’s contributions to the growth and achievements of the association till date. Supported by his amiable wife, Hajia Muibat Egbewole, the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof Egbewole in an emotionally laden comment thanked all for the honour done to him and promised to keep the flag flying.
Prof Egbewole was joined by family members, friends and colleagues among whom are Mr. K. K.Eleja, SAN, Mr. Fatai Ali, Mr. Take Eleja and Dr. I.K. Egbewole
