SPS 4.0: All YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE UNILORIN SU SENATE PARLIAMENTARY SUMMIT 

WHY IS EVERYONE MAKING A FUSS ABOUT SPS 4.0?

26th of July is the D-day and you’re probably among the few that have never heard about it or have no idea about the significance of this date. For the past few months SPS 4.0 has been in everyone’s faces, barely will a day go by without you seeing something about SPS 4.0, it’s on groups, statuses, and platforms, and people are talking about it and Twitter is blowing up with this Blue e-flyer that has the face of Mallam Saliu Mustapha, Why Saliu Mustapha? What is SPS 4.0?

Every year, the 59 senators of the Senate Council, Students’Union, and the University Of Ilorin converge to serve the world a sip of what it looks like in the legislative world. Under, the leadership of the Senate President, due deliberations and consultations are made to decide on what the theme will be, where this event will hold, who’d be on board and how best Unilorites can be served by enabling them to connect with the Programme. This programme is called the “Students’ Parliamentary Summit, SPS” and this is the fourth edition, hence the suffix 4.0.

Targeting inclusivity, all faculties on campus are invited to come to witness an event like no other, a convergence of top-notch, quality-calibre personalities who will grace the event to give the audience an insight into what it’s like to live in the Legislative realm

In the past years, dignitaries like Senator Bukola Saraki, Honourable Rafiu Ibrahim and Honourable Ajuloopin have honoured the programme. This year’s SPS edition will be held in the honour of the man that has been a source of inspiration to many indigenes of Ilorin, The Turaki and senator Representing Kwara Central, mallam Saliu Mustapha whose presence at the Auditorium on the 26th of July has been confirmed beyond uncertainties.

Also this year, the attendance of the Speaker, Kwara state house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Saliu has been confirmed. Flanked on his sides will be seated special guests of honour: the Chief Press Officer CPS Kwara state government, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye;  an author, former Senator Shehu Sani as a speaker; a panellist, barrister Titilope Anifowoshe (Legal eagle); Another panellist, the renowned Fafoluyi Olayinka, M. (Solace); Honourable barrister Oba Magaji abdulkadir, the house leader of the Kwara state 10th house of Assembly who will also be present as a panellist. Truly, this year’s council have selected the most distinguished personalities.

The topic and theme of convergence is ‘Legislation and its peculiarities; Role of a Legislator in the 21st Century’ so if you’re an average Unilorin student who knows very little about Legislation and what it entails; here’s your cue to expand your horizon and learn. Also, you’d be availed the opportunity to network with these personalities, which truly is a rare opportunity. 

Happening live at the University main auditorium on the 26th of July 2023, SPS 4.0 is not playing they say! But you can be assured that it is you playing if you have no intentions to be present at the grandiose Event. Freebies, giveaway items and ‘menu menu’ has been included as side attractions.
