The University of Abuja has officially matriculated over 7,000 fresh students for the 2024/2025 academic session, marking the beginning of their journey in higher education.
During the ceremony held on Thursday, Vice Chancellor Professor Aisha Maikudi disclosed that 38,000 candidates had competed for the available 7,794 admission slots, emphasizing the competitive nature of the process. She congratulated the successful students and urged them to remain dedicated to their studies while upholding discipline.
One of our correspondents gathered that prof Maikudi reminded parents and guardians of their role in ensuring students’ academic and moral development. She stressed that their guidance remains crucial in shaping responsible and successful graduates.Highlighting the university’s zero tolerance for misconduct, she warned students against cultism, examination malpractice, and squatting in hostels.
“The Matriculation Oath is a commitment that must be upheld. Any violation could lead to severe disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion,” she cautioned.
The Acting Registrar, Islamiyat Abdul-Rahim, administered the oath to the new students in a ceremony attended by university officials, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
