UNILORIN Crowned “Outstanding University of the Year”

Glitz and glory filled the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, last Friday (February 2, 2024) as the University of Ilorin, proudly known as “Better by Far,” received the New Telegraph’s ‘Outstanding Nigerian University of the Year 2023’ award!

The prestigious ceremony, graced by Nigeria’s finest, saw our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, receive the award on behalf of the university.

At the event, Mr Ayodele Aminu, Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Telegraph Publishing Company Limited, noted that the recognition stemmed from UNILORIN’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence.

Here’s why UNILORIN shines:

* Top Choice: For the past decade, UNILORIN has consistently been the most sought-after destination for students, earning the title of “nation’s most subscribed institution” by JAMB.

* Academic Powerhouse: In 2023, UNILORIN was ranked 3rd in Nigeria based on faculty’s scholarly output (Elsevier/Scopus – SciVal) over the past three years.

* World-Class Education: In 2023, four of UNILORIN’s faculties and 11 courses were recognized among the world’s best by Times Higher Education.

* Global Value: Study Abroad Aide, a leading platform for international students, ranked UNILORIN 9th in their “Best Value University” list for Nigeria and within the top 21% globally!

Prof. Egbewole, dedicating the award to the university’s “hardworking workforce,” emphasised, “The reward for hardwork is more work.”

He pledged to strive towards realising the “vision 1:10:500” and urged students to remain ambassadors, believing and contributing to UNILORIN’s continued progress.

The Vice Chancellor also encouraged alumni to return and contribute to the university that shaped them.
