The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has issued a clarification on the state government’s expenditure on examination fees in the state.
In a statement by the Press Secretary to the Ministry, Peter Amogbonjaye and a copy made available to Sobi FM, the state government paid for the Placement Common Entrance Examination and subsidized the Junior Secondary School Basic Education Certificate Examination. It however said, that the government did not fund the West African Senior School Certificate Examination and the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations, saying these examinations were sponsored by parents.
The Ministry acknowledged that the error was made in the budget speech of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and took responsibility for the mistake.
The clarification provides insight into the state government’s education expenditure and aims to dispel any confusion regarding the funding of examination fees.
